Description
Machined from a 6061-T6 extrusion, BKF standard line of free float handguards will provide you with a lifetime of service. The 6061-T6 aluminum barrel nut does not need to be indexed for gas tube clearance. The anti-rotation tabs are designed to fit a standard forged upper receiver and will ensure that the rail will not shift if the mounting screws come loose. The patented ASAL mounting feature ensures that there is no forward movement of the handguard and keeps it from shifting due to tension on the mounting screws. Anti-rotation tabs may be a tight fit on forged uppers, and may require hand fitting on billet uppers.

Took a chance on one of BKF’s 15” M-Lok black anodized handguards and I’m happy that I did… As always BKF had a great price, shipped fast and communicated well during the process…
The handguard is light, sturdy and is easily mounted as the barrel nut does not need to be timed for the gas tube… I torqued the barrel nut to 50 ft lbs and the three handguard screws to 30-35 in. lbs…

This is an excellent handguard. Smooth edges and finish. It’s also dead straight, which isn’t always the case. I’ve had several handguards which were canted and the barrel wasn’t centered at the muzzle end. Not so with this handguard.

For the price, I was extremely surprised at how nice the anodizing was. I usually do a baked finish on my handguards, since industry anodizing is generally very “dusty” looking. Okay here goes: I bought two of these in one go, along with the appropriate (1-3/16″) open ended wrench. The price for these just can’t be beat. One of them replaced a crappy UTG Keymod handguard on my dad’s AR, and the other one I bought to have as needed when testing different barrels, (if all goes well, I’ll use one for a home defense build that won’t bother me much in the event it gets seized by L.E. post home defense use.) I’ve owned everything from Larue, to PRI, to BCM, to MI, to KAC. This is a solid rail and cannot be beat for the money. The anti-rotation tabs are good, and I think that the ASAL mount is simple yet sufficient. The tab keeps the handguard from sliding forward or backward under use, and the other two screws tighten the handguard around the barrel nut for a nice friction lock. My one and only gripe – the barrel nut appears to be made of aluminum (I know, a lot of big names used 7075 aluminum and it works fine-ish) but the claw-foot wrench (made of steel) marred it up without much force (I sent my torque wrench to 70 ft-lbs.) This however is not a big deal, you don’t see it once the handguard is installed. All in all, I’m quite happy with the purchase and will absolutely purchase one of these again. Time will tell how well these stand up to use and abuse (AR’s are tools, and I use them as such.)

Nice hand guard for the price. It was much better than I thought it would be. M-lok on 5 sides. Nicely laid out. Solid lock up system, anti-twist tabs, nice finish. Barrel nut might not be supper robust, but most of the “Gucci” ones aren’t either. Might not “go to war” with it, but it should hold up fine for all but serious abuse. For the price, you can’t beat it.

I am impressed! As an AR armorer for about 2 decades, I have installed a lot of handguards. For the Price, I expected much less in terms of quality, fit and finish. I installed this on a ‘budget’ build, but wouldn’t hesitate to use it on more expensive builds well. The ASAL lock nut really holds the handguard in place, tensions it towards the upper and is a great design. Thank you BKF for making such a good quality rail for the price.

Just like I’ve already reviewed other handguards like this from BKings. They are Rock Solid! The middle bolt has a wedge system. It ain’t moving until you want it to! These handguards do exactly what they need to do, lock up tight & wont move on you. Either the 5.56 or the 308, they both are excellent for free float handguards. . USA made with great 6061-T6 aluminum & a really nice finish to boot. Can’t go wrong with it. Priced really good as well! Did I say USA MADE??!!!!! Yep
